COMPOSITION

There are so many ways to compose a photo. There are elements such as the rule of thirds, fibonacci sequence, triangles, leading lines, framing and so much more.

This post’s featured image, for example, has an interesting composition in terms of light distribution. There is a spiral-like pattern that the light makes, starting at the center, the mannequin’s knees, and following down to her skates, her skirt, then to the mannequin in pink, above her head to the lights, then through the curtain and down to another mannequin’s legs to the floor. There are actually a couple ways that the light creates a spiral pattern in this image. The reason there’s only a reflection in part of the window is because I shot this with a circular polarizing filter on my lens. It’s actually a 2-in-1 Neewer neutral density (ND) filter and a circular polarizer (CPL). I’ve only shot with that specific filter for a couple days and I have some feelings about it. I’ll probably make a post soon about my gear and what I like and dislike about certain items.

Of course, I shot more calla lilies for my mom. I also found a new way to photograph my favorite flowers, the white ones with about six points that droop like bell flowers.
